Lexi is one of my closest friends and favourite people. She laughs at silly things, she is up for anything – from posing for photos wearing a disposable bathing suit to creating roommate Christmas cards and breaking into other friends houses to leave them on their pillows. She is insightful and can offer sound advice whenever is needed, which is going to lead her down an amazing path of being a life coach. All of us girls have seen each other through struggles, and have offered our support as we have watched one another push on with fierce determination. Lexi has always shown this determination to become better, and to live the life she wants. And, this life she envisioned years ago included a solid, solid partner.

Walk in Kyle. Kyle and Lexi met through their mutual friend, Alana. Lexi and Alana were out at Calgary’s Una for a number of bottles of wine when Kyle sauntered in not knowing what was coming. Although the night might not be a total fairy tale meet up as it involved some late night cat vomit, it did bring them together to end up where they are now.

Kyle is funny – he makes everyone laugh. He is quick and playful. You always know you will be smiling when he is around. He also cares for those around him. He sometimes shows his caring through sarcasm and texts that demand you go get him a burger, but it is obvious his friends and family are so important to him. As a friend to Lexi I am beyond happy that these two have found each other and cannot wait to be a part of their lives as they move into my community and we become neighbours.

.

Because of all of those things, when Lexi asked how I would feel about photographing their wedding I was so happy – when she told me that they would have me stop photos before the reception so I could party, I was even happier….

It was honestly an honour to be able to be right there, to be part of her taking in the experience the morning of. One of my favourite moments ever photographing was when she got teary when I was taking her photo as she took in the moments of the day.

The weather forecast fluctuated all week between thunderstorms, scattered showers, and scattered thunderstorms. In the end though, the sun came through and stayed. Riley Park was beautiful with the flowers all up in bloom. Kyle’s face as he saw Lexi come out from the tree was priceless, along with her stop and wave at the start of the aisle.

This is going to be one amazing life for these two, I have no doubt. Now here is to hoping they still allow Alana and I to join them for Valentine’s Day dates…
